Discover your strenghts!

Dream big and choose activities that really interest you and that you may never have dared to do before. Now or never!

You choose an activity in each of the program sections Volunteering, Physical and Skills . For each activity, you set yourself a specific goal and challenge yourself to achieve it. You complete each activity for one hour per week. Our appwill support you.

Below you will find ideas for activities that you could choose for the individual parts of the program. They are just examples, you can of course choose completely different activities as long as they fit into the areas.

You can also be inspired by other participants and their activities on instagram:

Volunteering

Volunteering is about doing something good for others without being paid for it: for a special person, for your school, your community, society, the environment or for animals.

You can get involved with a charitable organisation, e.g. the food bank or homeless charity, you can do the shopping for elderly people or take their dog for a walk. You can also help younger children with their homework at your school or youth centre. Maybe you’d enjoy volunteering to coach younger children at a sports club or being a referee. Being a class representative also counts as volunteering.

Skills

Is there something you’ve always wanted to be able to do? Then choose it from the skills section, even if you hardly think you can do it. The motto of the Award is not without reason: You can do more than you think!

The skills part of the program includes all non-sporting activities. You can learn to play an instrument or sing. You can take photographs, make sculptures, do carpentry, cook, bake, make pottery, sew, knit, draw, paint, design, garden, study astronomy, keep bees, make honey, go fishing or learn card games. Making films, editing videos, learning a language, reading, writing, presenting, developing a website are other good options. You can also develop special skills by playing billiards, darts, chess or backgammon.

Physical

You can choose any type of sport in the physical section. The possibilities are endless: Ball sports, dancing, athletics, water sports, martial arts, field sports, yoga, skateboarding … Anything that requires physical exertion counts!

In any case, it is important that you do the sporting activity for at least one hour a week and that you improve from week to week. Possible goals could be to score a certain number of goals with your left foot, to jog a certain distance or to master a certain yoga pose.

Expeditionen

For the expedition part of the programme, you plan a nature expedition as a group (4-7 people) and carry it out unaccompanied. Prerequisites for the expedition are participation in an expedition training and the completion of a practice expedition.

The expedition training includes navigation, bivouacking, behaviour in nature, outdoor cooking, teamwork and first aid. Before each final expedition, you must carry out a trial expedition as a group to prove that you have enough experience to successfully and safely complete the final expedition. At the end of the final expedition, there is a presentation on your chosen group goal. This can be in the form of a song, poem, video or similar.

Residential

At the gold level, there is also the Residential. This is about finding your feet in an unfamiliar environment and making new friends. For example, you could work as a team leader at a holiday camp for children, take part in a cookery or language course in another country or take part in an ecological project.

The Residential lasts 5 days and 4 nights.

We always highlight special volunteering opportunities here (all information without guarantee):

  • Mountain forest project
  • Supporting the grape harvest on the Moselle
  • Apple harvest on an organic farm
  • Renovation of a youth centre during the holidays
  • Participation in a language course
